About Me

Over many years as a teacher, school founder, and coach, I have worked closely with young people, not only as students, but also as thinkers, writers, and young adults trying to better understand themselves and their place in the world.

I began my career practicing law for nearly a decade before earning a coaching certification and moving into executive and career coaching. While helping clients identify work that truly fit them, I recognized my own pull toward education. Eventually, I became a classroom teacher, and then founded and led an innovative independent secondary school in the Washington, D.C., suburbs.

Today, I bring those experiences together as a college admissions mentor, working with students internationally, including students in Asia applying to universities in the U.S. and Canada. I find it particularly rewarding that the work draws on every stage of my career, while allowing me to build the kind of authentic relationships with students that have always mattered most to me.

I hold a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. I currently live in the D.C. area with my wife, Gila. We have three grown children, all college graduates.
