How I Work with Students
Every student brings a unique story, distinct strengths, and individual priorities to the college admissions process. For that reason, I do not rely on preset formulas or packages.
Following an initial consultation, I design a customized plan tailored to the student's goals, interests, and current stage in the admissions process. With all students, I strive to make our time together a rich learning experience — one that fosters growth extending far beyond college admissions.
I believe the admissions process is most valuable when approached thoughtfully and honestly — not as a transactional competition, but as an opportunity for reflection, meaningful conversation, and growth.
College Fit Exploration and Application Strategy
Students deserve candid guidance and realistic advice. My goal is not simply to maximize prestige or admissions outcomes, but to help students identify colleges and pathways that are genuinely right for them.
I also help students consider how essays, activities, recommendations, and other application materials can complement one another and reinforce the qualities they most want colleges to understand about them.
Authentic Voice and Personal Narrative
I help students identify and communicate an authentic voice that genuinely feels like their own. Strong applications begin with self-understanding, thoughtful reflection, and honest conversation.
Application Essays
This may include:
-
Personal statement development and revision
-
Supplemental essays
-
Additional written application materials
I devote time to understanding each student deeply before offering guidance on their essays. The strongest essays grow out of self-understanding, thoughtful reflection, and an authentic voice.
Interviews and Admissions Decisions
Support may also include:
-
Interview preparation and mock interviews
-
Guidance through admissions decisions, college selection, and next steps
The admissions process does not end when applications are submitted. I help students navigate important decisions thoughtfully and move forward with confidence.
Continued Mentorship
For many students, our conversations do not end when applications are submitted or admissions decisions are received. I often continue to serve as a mentor and sounding board as students navigate the transition to college and the challenges and opportunities of their first year.
Workshops / Presentations
In addition to one-on-one mentoring, I work with schools and other organizations through customized workshops, presentations, and programs.
